Virginia Guard leaders sign Fredericksburg region Community Covenant - May 4, 2013
Senior Virginia National Guard leaders join military leaders from Fort A.P. Hill, Marine Corps Base Quantico and Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in signing the Fredericksburg Region Armed Forces Community Covenant May 4, 2013, in Fredericksburg. Brig. Gen. Wayne A. Wright, deputy adjutant general of Virginia, Col. John M. Epperly, commander of the Staunton-based 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and Lt. Col. Chris Doss, commander of the Fredericksburg-based 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, signed the covenant that pledged "to create and encourage a strong relationship between these communities and the military and former military personnel and families who live and work in them; to educate men, women and children of the value and strength of having military service members, active and retired, and their families, living in their communities; and to assist community leaders in developing programs in support of our active duty military, veterans and their families." The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council and the Quantico/Belvoir Regional Business Alliance presented the event that also served as a community celebration with local food vendors, activities for children, demonstrations, music and informational booths and displays, including a display from Virginia National Guard recruiters.
