229th MP Company welcomes new first sergeant - March 13, 2014
The Virginia Beach-based 229th Military Police Company, 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion welcomed 1st Sgt. Raul Viera in a change of responsibility ceremony that recognized him assuming the responsibilities of Soldier welfare and training from 1st Sgt. Charles Sims March 13, 2014, at Fort Pickett. Viera most recently served in the 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, and Sims will transfer to the 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute. Sims enlisted into the 229th more than 20 years ago, and he spent his entire career in the company including serving as first sergeant for three years. Soldiers of the 229th were at Fort Pickett for annual training where they are assisting the 529th CSSB prepare for an upcoming federal mobilization.
