Camp Pendleton hosts emergency response exercise with local, state, federal partners - May 1, 2014
First responders from local, state and federal agencies respond to a simulated mid air collision between two helicopters during an emergency response exercise May 1, 2014, at Camp Pendleton, Va. Fire, police and emergency management personnel from Virginia Beach and Naval Air Station Oceana joined with Virginia State Police, the Virginia Office of the Medical Examiner, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for the daylong exercise. Medical transport helicopters from the Navy and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital also participated in the event. Local volunteers, U.S. Navy Sailors and U.S. Marines role played as casualties. The goal of the exercise was to develop and improve coordination between first responders from several agencies.
