Va. Defense Force supports Apple Blossom Festival - May 2, 2014

Members of the Virginia Defense Force operate traffic control points and provide mission command support May 2, 2014, at the Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Va. More than 120 members of the all-volunteer VDF from units across the state augmented local law enforcement May 1-3 to help ensure traffic flow for an event that is expected to bring tens of thousands of visitors to the Winchester area. The VDF also took advantage of the mission to train on multiple communication systems and to educate local citizens about their mission and possibly recruit new members.
