by Virginia Guard Public Affairs

Virginia Guard Soldiers from the Chesterfield-based Detachment 1, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 151st Aviation Regiment conduct hoist rescue training with personnel from the Chesterfield Fire and Rescue Squad during their annual training June 9, 2014, in Hopewell, Va. The scenario-based training event included three separate “rescues” of personnel, played by Soldiers in the unit. Two Soldiers were “rescued” from the top of a school bus, one from the top of a building and two from a boat in a nearby river. The training simulated rescues that would be necessary in the event of serious flooding and made use of multiple hoist techniques. Soldiers from the Chesterfield-based Detachment 2, Company G, 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, the Virginia Guard’s medical evacuation detachment, were also on hand to provide casualty evacuation support.
