Adjutant General visits deployed 529th CSSB troops training at Fort Hood - July 15, 2014

Brig. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald Smith, the command sergeant major for the 329th Regional Support Group, bid farewell to Lt. Col. Michael Waterman, commander of the Virginia Beach-based 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy White, command sergeant major for the 529th CSSB, July 15, 2014, during a visit to Fort Hood, Texas. The 529th is currently at Fort Hood conducting mobilization training before deploying to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Williams and Smith visited senior leaders and junior Soldiers from the 529th, answering questions and offering assistance and support. The 529th departed Virginia June 22, 2014, and is expected to spend up to 12 months on federal active duty. Once they arrive in Kuwait, the Soldiers of the 529th CSSB are scheduled to operate as a mission command headquarters with the task of planning and executing combat sustainment support for U.S. and coalition forces in Kuwait and the surrounding region.
