The MAT includes a lift mechanism, which is able to lift full-scale tank target silhouettes, and can be configured to respond on demand to reflect any enemy or targeting actions. The MAT is capable of travelling at almost 35 mph. Additional features like thermal signatures, a non-contact hit scoring system, pyrotechnic devices, laser target interfaces and an easy-to-use control system were also included.
The Range Maintenance and Operations Division within the DPTS is designing and manufacturing a series of metal and wood silhouettes in order to tailor to each units’ specific training needs.
