Va. Guard troops compete for title as Virginia’s top Soldiers, NCOs - March 28, 2015

Virginia National Guard Soldiers and noncommissioned officers from around the state compete in the 2014 Virginia Army National Guard Soldier and NCO of the Year competition March 28, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Va. The two-day competition tests the troops in the Army Physical Fitness Test, marksmanship, land navigation, various Army Warrior Tasks and an appearance board. The Warrior Tasks included evaluating a casualty, administering first aid, reporting intelligence information, communicating via a tactical radio, detecting chemical agents, decontaminating using a decontamination kit and reacting to a nuclear hazard attack. The winners will go on to represent Virginia in the regional competition at Pickett in May.
