229th BEB Soldiers conduct flight operations at Fort Pickett

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fort Pickett-based Detachment 1, Delta Company, 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct flight operations with the RQ-7B V2 Shadow unmanned aerial system Feb. 2, 2019, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. The detachment provides the 116th IBCT commander with tactical-level reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, battle damage assessment and communication relay capabilities. With the detachment’s four unmanned aerial vehicles, it can provide continuous coverage on the battlefield aiding the brigade commander in rapid decision making.
