Unit, family, friends gather to remember fallen VNG Soldiers 14 years later
Two Virginia National Guard Soldiers killed Dec. 21, 2004, in a suicide bombing in Mosul, Iraq, are remembered with a wreath laying Dec. 21, 2018, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Sgt. Nicholas C. Mason and Sgt. David A. Ruhren were lost along with 12 other U.S. military service members, four U.S. contractors and four Iraqi soldiers allied with the U.S. military. Former members of the Petersburg-based 276th Engineer Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group gathered with family and friends on the 14th anniversary of their deaths and also released red balloons in their honor.
