529th CSSB Soldiers train for federal mobilization
Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned the Virginia Beach-based 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct training on the Asymmetric Threat Lane Nov. 17, 2018, at Fort Pickett, Virginia, to prepare for their upcoming federal active duty mobilization. The lane is designed to train Soldiers to recognize indicators for improvised explosive devices, how to react to an IED, direct and indirect fire, conduct key leader engagements and tactical questioning, and the proper techniques for requesting explosive ordnance disposal support and medical evacuation. Approximately 70 Soldiers assigned to the 529th will deploy to the Middle East where they will operate as a mission command headquarters with the task of planning and executing logistics support for U.S. and coalition forces in the Central Command area of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
