Veterans, service members honored during Veterans Day ceremony

All Americans who served and who are currently serving in the armed forces are honored at the Commonwealth's Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 11, 2019, at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond, Virginia. Governor Ralph Northam and Virginia Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs Carlos Hopkins both spoke during the ceremony, as did Gen. Paul E. Funk II, commander of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. Brig. Gen. James Ring, Virginia National Guard director of the joint staff, led the ceremony in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Sgt. 1st Class Calvin Bailey sang the national anthem. Members of the all-volunteer Virginia Defense Force provided traffic control for the event.
