VNG aviators stand down for safety - Dec. 7, 2019

The Virginia National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, 29th Infantry Division conducts their annual Safety Stand Down Dec. 7, 2019, at Fort Lee, Virginia. The event included comments from Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Brig. Gen. James W. Ring, Virginia National Guard Director of the Joint Staff, the chaplain and Chief Warrant Officer 5 Dennis Smith, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence Senior Warrant Officer Advisor. The event also included an awards presentation recognizing outgoing Soldiers and safe flying hours, and safety awards were presented in memory of former 2-224th Aviation Soldiers, including Sgt. Mark Dameron, Staff Sgt. Darryl Booker and Col. Paul Kelly. Maria Kelly, Col. Kelly’s widow, and their son, Spc. Paul Kelly, assisted in the awards presentation.
