229th BEB Soldiers help distribute meals at Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank - April 23, 2020
Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team assist with logistics and food distribution April 23, 2020, at the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, visited with the Soldiers and thanked them for their service to the community. The VNG has more than 540 personnel actively working or ready to support the Commonwealth of Virginia’s COVID-19 response to provide additional capacity and capabilities to state and local agencies. During domestic operations, the VNG receives mission taskings from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and can't respond to direct requests for assistance.
