Course teaches Red Dragons machine gun proficiency
Virginia and Kentucky National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, also known as Task Force Red Dragon, participate in the Machine Gun Leaders Course Aug. 4th, 2021, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. The course included a nine-mile ruck march, disassembly and assembly of the M240 machine gun, emplacement and displacement of the weapon system and other validating tasks. One hundred Soldiers from across the task force are participating in this course during the battalion’s pre-deployment training July 31 through Aug. 15, 2021, at Fort Pickett.
