VDF, ChalleNGe leaders brief GAMVC - March 2, 2022

Representatives of the Virginia Defense Force and Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy present overview briefs to members of the Virginia General Assembly Military and Veterans Caucus March 2, 2022, in Richmond, Virginia. Col. (Va.) Robin Phillips, commander of the VDF’s 1st Regiment, gave an overview of the organization’s role as the all-volunteer reserve of the Virginia National Guard. Retired Navy Capt. Mark Chicoine, director of Commonwealth ChalleNGe, and two cadets talked about how the program intervenes in the lives of 16-18 year old teenagers by providing the values, skills, education, and self-discipline needed to produce responsible, productive citizens in a highly structured learning environment.
