Maj. Gen. James W. Ring takes the oath of office as the 29th Adjutant General of Virginia, administered by Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth Kay Coles James with retired Maj. Gen. Craig Crenshaw, the Virginia Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs, holding the Bible used for the ceremony June 8, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia. Ring succeeded Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the 28th Adjutant General of Virginia, and took command of the Virginia National Guard during a ceremony June 3.
