VNG Soldiers tackle final day of Warrior Stakes squad competition - June 15, 2023

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to multiple battalions in the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and 329th Regional Support Group tackle the final day of the 2023 Warrior Stakes squad competition June 15, 2023, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. The squads were evaluated on conducting vehicle preventive maintenance checks and services, recovery operations and weapons assembly and disassembly as well as a 100-question written test. Hosted by the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th IBCT, the competition includes two squads from the 229th as well as squads from the Petersburg-based 276th Engineer Battalion and Danville-based 429th Brigade Support Battalion. Over the three days of Warrior Stakes, Soldiers competed in a series of events to test their military skills, endurance and teamwork.
