Gallagher visits RSP, SMP troops in Leesburg - June 25, 2023

Brig. Gen. K. Weedon Gallagher, the Virginia National Guard Land Component Commander, visits Virginia National Guard troops assigned to the Virginia Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion’s Recruit Sustainment Program Site #5 June 25, 2023, in Leesburg, Virginia. Gallagher promoted the VNG’s Referral Enlistment Program which offers up to $1,000 for referrals leading to VNG enlistments as well as shared his insights on military service. The RSP focuses on getting recruits administratively, physically and mentally prepared for the rigors of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, and RSP #5 has seen 100% of its recruits ship to BCT and be recognized for leadership, marksmanship and academic excellence and even earn a slot to Ranger School. The program also hosts cadets enrolled in the VaARNG’s Simultaneous Membership Program where individuals participate in both the VNG and their university’s ROTC program.
