Johnson promoted to lieutenant colonel - July 14, 2023

Maj. Brett Johnson, the Virginia Army National Guard full-time support chaplain, is promoted to lieutenant colonel July 14, 2023, at the Virginia National Guard Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. Brig. Gen. K. Weedon Gallagher, the VNG Assistant Adjutant General - Army, presided over the promotion ceremony and administered Johnson the oath of office for his new rank. Col. Seung Lee, the VNG state chaplain, presented Johnson with the Order of Martin of Tours award.

According to the office of the Chief of Chaplains, “the Honorable Order of Martin of Tours is awarded to those chaplains and religious affairs specialists who have demonstrated the highest standards of integrity and moral character, displayed an outstanding degree of professional competence, selflessly served soldiers and families, and contributed to the promotion of the Army Chaplaincy.”
