Endurance Soldiers earn German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge - Aug. 20, 2023

Seventy-two Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team earn the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge during a three-day competition Aug. 18-20, 2023, at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The Soldiers competed in multiple events including a swim test, a physical fitness test, pistol marksmanship and a ruck march. After the ruck march, battalion leadership and German Armed Forces representatives presented gold, silver or bronze badges, based on level of proficiency across all events, to all 72 successful Soldiers. The badge is a decoration of the Bundeswehr, the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany.
