VNG, Fort Barfoot host officials from Tajikistan - Oct. 23, 2023

Virginia National Guard senior leaders provide a Fort Barfoot capabilities overview brief and tour of the installation to a visiting delegation of government, military and law enforcement officials from the Republic of Tajikistan Oct. 23, 2023, at Fort Barfoot Virginia. Brig. Gen. Todd Hubbard, the VNG Director of the Joint Staff, and Col. James C. Shaver Jr., Fort Barfoot garrison commander, welcomed and briefed the group at the new Blackstone Army Airfield operations building about the installation before taking them on a tour of post, including a visit to observe training at the 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute. The group also visited a live-fire range with a Pennsylvania National Guard unit conducting pre-mobilization training. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joshua Shropshire, the executive officer of the VNG’s Counterdrug Task Force, also briefed the Tajik delegation on the task force’s capabilities. The visit was in support of the Department of Defense’s State Partnership Program, in which Virginia and Tajikistan have been partners since 2003. Read more about the program at ngpa.us/26962.
