Virginia National Guard Soldiers celebrate the holiday season at the Blackstone Christmas Parade Dec. 8, 2023, in Blackstone, Virginia. Col. James C. Shaver, the Fort Barfoot garrison commander, Soldiers assigned to the Fort Barfoot-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute, the Fort Barfoot-based Virginia Army National Guard Medical Command and the Blackstone-based 3647th Maintenance Company drove tactical vehicles in the parade, and Soldiers assigned to the Virginia Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion walked alongside the vehicles.
