Finnish delegation visits, tours JFHQ - Oct. 25, 2024

Lt. Gen. Vesa Virtanen, Chief of Defence Command Finland, and a small delegation of Finnish military representatives meet with Maj. Gen. James W. Ring, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and other senior leaders of the Virginia National Guard during a visit Oct. 25, 2024, to the VNG Sgt. Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Virtanen received a tour of JFHQ and briefing on VNG history from retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Al Barnes, the VNG command historian. Earlier this year, the Virginia National Guard and Finland officially became partners under the National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program. Through the SPP, U.S. National Guard units and partner-nation forces engage in a wide array of activities ranging from joint training exercises and personnel exchanges to disaster response and humanitarian aid initiatives.
