Monroe Park, (Laurel and Franklin Sts.) Richmond, Va.

Card Text (transcribed from postcard): During the war this site was used as a recruiting and drill ground, and afterwards as the State Fair Grounds. Is now situated in the fashionable residence section of the City. Its shady walks and velvety lawn attract hundreds of children and their nurses. It was first intended to erect the Davis Monument in the park and a cornerstone was laid near the fountain.
