Belle Isle and Falls of James River, Richmond, Va.

Card Text (transcribed from postcard): On this island the Confederacy established its largest military prison. Federal prisoners being housed in tents, surrounded by a stockade. Now occupied by the O. D. Iron & Nail Works. The granite formation of the island affords material for the operation of expensive stone crushing plants. In the distance and on the opposite side of the river is presented a view of Manchester, a thriving City, connected with Richmond by numerous bridges.
