Q.6. (c)
Total investment of Tahir = 15,000 × 12 = 180,000 Rs. in year
Total investment of Umar = 20,000 × 7 = 210,000 Rs. in year
Total investment of Usman = 45,000 × 4 = 180,000 Rs. in year
Therefore the profit at the end of the year will be shared in the ratio:

Total share = 6 + 7 + 6 = 19
Profit Earned in a year = 406,000 Rs.

Share of Tahir =

Q.6. (a)
By taking L.C.M of 5, 7, 12.
Least Common Multiple is : 420
OR
Calculate Least Common Multiple for : 12, 5 and 7
Factorize of the above numbers :
12 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 1

2x3x5x7
Least Common Multiple is : 420
At midnight all three noises come together, the after 420 all three noises will
come together.
Q.6. (b)
Let's assume the rate of the slower pipe is: x
So, the rate of the faster pipe would be: 1.25x
Working together, their rate will be x + 1.25x = 2.25x
As the question says, they take 5 hours to fill up the tank working together, so:
Rate x Time = Work
2.25 x * 5 = 1
2.25x = 1/5
x = 1/5 / 2.25 = 4/45
So, the rate of the slower pipe, x = 4/45
Now, let's see how long it takes for the slower pipe to complete the task:
Rate x Time = Work
4/45 x Time = 1
Time = 1 / 4/45 = 45/4 = 11.25
Q.6. (c)

Suppose in 2013 the expenditures were Rs. X

In 2018 the expenditure were Rs. 264 with the increase of 20% of X.
Now as equation it will be written as
X + 20% X = 264
120% X = 264
120/100 *X = 264
X = 264*100/120
X= 220
Hence in 2013 the expenditures were Rs.220
Q.6. (d)
A measure of central tendency (also referred to as measures of centre or
central location) is a summary measure that attempts to describe a whole set of data
with a single value that represents the middle or centre of its distribution.
286

There are three main measures of central tendency: the mode, the median and
the mean. Each of these measures describes a different indication of the typical or
central value in the distribution.
OR
Average is the centre of the data. And all other value have a tendency towards
their center.
Average is the single value which represents the whole data. The three main
types of average.
(a) Arithmetic mean (Mean)
(b) Median (c) Mode
What is the mean?
The mean is the sum of the value of each observation in a dataset divided by
the number of observations. This is also known as the arithmetic average.
Looking at the retirement age distribution again:
54, 54, 54, 55, 56, 57, 57, 58, 58, 60, 60
The mean is calculated by adding together all the values
(54+54+54+55+56+57+57+58+58+ 60+60 = 623) and dividing by the number of
observations (11) which equals 56.6 years.
What is the median?
The median is the middle value in distribution when the values are arranged in
ascending or descending order.
The median divides the distribution in half (there are 50% of observations on
either side of the median value). In a distribution with an odd number of
observations, the median value is the middle value.
Looking at the retirement age distribution (which has 11 observations), the
median is the middle value, which is 57 years:
54, 54, 54, 55, 56, 57, 57, 58, 58, 60, 60
When the distribution has an even number of observations, the median value is
the mean of the two middle values. In the following distribution, the two middle
values are 56 and 57, therefore the median equals 56.5 years:
52, 54, 54, 54, 55, 56, 57, 57, 58, 58, 60, 60
What is the mode?
The mode is the most commonly occurring value in a distribution.
Consider this dataset showing the retirement age of 11 people, in whole years:
54, 54, 54, 55, 56, 57, 57, 58, 58, 60, 60.
This table shows a simple frequency distribution of the retirement age data.

Age Frequency
54 3
55 1
287

56 1
57 2
58 2
60 2
The most commonly occurring value is 54, therefore the mode of this
distribution is 54 years.
Q.7. (a)
Total amount to be distributed b/w Moiz and Mair is Rs. 2000
The ratio b/w Moiz and Mair is 1:4
The sum of ratio is 1+4 = 5
Moiz = 1/5*2000
Moiz = 400
Now the amount Rs. 400 is to distributed among Moiz, his wife and son with the
ratio 4:5:1.
The sum of ratio = 4+5+1 = 10
Now … Moiz will get = 4/10*400 = Rs. 160
His wife will get = 5/10*400 = Rs. 200
His son = 1/10*400 = Rs. 40
Now diff of wife and son = 200 - 40 = 160
Finally his wife will get Rs. 160 greater than his son.
Q.7. (b)
As we know the hen has 2 feet (legs) and rabbit has 4 feet (legs)
Let x is number hens
Let y is number of rabbits
So we can express in equations form as
Then,
x + y = 70 .... (i)
2x + 4y = 196
by taking common 2
x + 2y = 98 .... (ii)
by subtracting equation (i) and (ii)
we get: x = 42, y = 28
Difference = 42 -28 = 14
Hence there are 14 more hens than the rabbits.
RECHECK:
70*2 = 140
196 - 140 =56
Rabbits = 56/2 = 28
288

Hens = 70 – 28 = 42
Difference = 42 -28 = 14

SOLUTION
Q.6. (a)
Time taken by Tariq alone = 6 hours
Time taken by Sajid alone = 4 hours
Time taken by Irfan alone = 8 hours
Time taken by Tariq and Sajid together
291

t = 2.4 hours
Time taken by Tariq and Irfan together

Since Tariq and Sajid have worked for 2 hours. Therefore % work completed by
Tariq and Sajid

= 83.33%
% work remaining = 100-83.33
= 16.667 %
Therefore, time taken by Tariq and Irfan to finish the remaining work = 3.428 x
0.1667
= 0.57 hours
= 34.2 minutes
And total time = 2 hours + 0.57 hours would be (Tariq & Sajid) (Tariq &
Irfan) = 2.57 hours.

Q.7. (b)
Key
(i) area = L x W
Since we don’t know the length and width of farm. Therefore, assuming the
farm as square.
So,
Area of Square = (Side)2
484 = (Side)2

Side = 22 m
Now each side is of 22 m. On three sides it is 2m high. Thus, its area will be,
294

Area of wall on 3 sides =

= 132m2

On one side, it is 3m high, Thus, Area of wall on 1 side =

= 66m2
Total area of the wall = 132m2 + 66m2 around the farm
= 198 m2
So, the total area of wall around the farm is 198
m2

X = 28.57 days
Hence, 28.57 days are required to by 70 men to complete same length of
road.
Q.8. (d)
(i) Pay off (–)
Property left by Zahid = Rs 1750, 000/-
After paying debt, the remaining property = 1750, 000/-
150, 000/-
= Rs 1600, 000/-
Now Rs 1600, 000/- is to be divided between his son who has double share than
the doughter.

Let share of daughter = X

Then, the share of son = 2X
Thus,
2X + X = 1600, 000/-
3X = 1600, 000/-

X=
X = 533,333.333/-

So, his Daughter’s share is Rs 533,333.3333/- and his Son’s share is Rs
