For the learner:

The new K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum on Technology and Livelihood


Education Program focuses on teaching specialization courses that upon completion is
equivalent to a career. This is to provide learning standard to all high school students in
rural, urban, and non-urban areas. This addresses the need for skilled and competitive
students to contribute to the sustainable use of resources in the community and to
economic productivity.

Do you want to know why your sewing machine stopped working? Even if you
don’t believe it, most of the solution is simpler than you think. In this material, you will
know some sewing machine problems, its causes and remedies.

The lessons of this module provide various assessment tools and practicum to
measure your level of understanding. The suggested instructional activities are within
your capability. These activities can be modified to adjust the needs of the student
based on the school and community resources.

This material helps you to realize the result of the course as you prepare yourself
to become a dressmaker / entrepreneur and to be beneficial and fruitful to our country.

Know

A sewing machine costs a lot so; it must be given special care. It is important to
know its different parts and its functions. Your knowledge of the parts of a sewing
machine helps you to care for it properly at the same time, pinpoint which part causes
the trouble when it breaks down.
When the sewing machine breaks down, analyze which part causes the
breakdown. Then, try to repair it using the different solutions suggested in this module.
Simple repairs may be made but if the sewing machine has trouble which is beyond
your capacity to repair, call a qualified person to repair it to prevent further damage.
This module covers one competency in dressmaking which is resolving
common machine troubles and its remedies that a Grade 7 Technology and Livelihood
Education (TLE) learner like you ought to have.
