UC1: Installing and configuring computer systems
This module covers the outcomes required in installing and configuring desktop
and workstation computers systems. It consists of competencies to assemble
computer hardware, install operating system and drivers for peripherals/devices,
and install application software as well as to conduct testing and documentation.
Nominal Duration: 45 hours

At the end of this module, you MUST be able to:

Personal Safety While Working Along With PC’s
- Computer equipment can be dangerous, and you or others
can be injured or even killed if you don’t follow proper
safety guidelines when working along PC’s.
Before you start to work on the computer, perform
the following steps in the sequence indicated:

Safety Precautions:
Disconnect the power cord
Do not remove components while computer is powered up
Remove all jewelry
Always use anti-static wrist strap when working on monitors
When possible, try to avoid working in carpeted areas.
Always use approved surge protectors or an Uninterrupted Power Supply.
Never eat, drink or smoke while working on a computer
If possible avoid using cell-phone while repairing
Do not leave the computer unattended
Use your senses
