What is copy right ?
Copyright is a legal right created by the law of a country that
grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights for its
use and distribution. However, in order to balance these
exclusive rights for the public interest, there exist
exceptions and limitations to copyright, such as fair dealing
and fair use.
What is creative common?
Creative Commons is an American non-profit organization
and international network devoted to educational access
and expanding the range of creative works available for
others to build upon legally and to share. The organization
has released several copyright licenses, known as Creative
Commons licenses, free of charge to the public. These
licenses allow authors of creative works to communicate
which rights they reserve and which rights they waive for
the benefit of recipients or other creators
Important of copyright
Copyright is the basis on which open licensing is built. It is
important to know what the original licenses holder rights,
protections, exceptions, and, transfer of copyright. Discusses about
it before making cc licenses of your own works.
Creative commons basics
Creative Commons (CC) enables creators to share
creative works legally by providing a number of
copyright licenses and tools that creators may use to
grant the public specific permissions on how to use
their works.
How CC licenses work
A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public
copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an
otherwise copyrighted "work". A CC license is used when an
author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and
build upon a work that the author has created
six creative commons licenses
Remix
Remix is when you combine different resources together to
create new copied works. OER create an combine learning
materials from a different sources together, with the our
own works to create a new educational resource which we
create new licenses. However, the legal terms of one license
may not be compatible with the legal terms of another
license.
Compatibility
Compatibility is the Creative works dedicated to the
public domain can be contrast with all the CC license
types but public domain is not a license. In
Compatibility Attribution license may be re-licensed
using any of the six license types but this must be
according to the copy holder. You may not licenses
an cc licenses that has a No-Derivatives restriction
Summary
Copyright gives the creator of a work exclusive control
of a bundle of rights. This All Rights Reserved
model makes it difficult for other people to use and build
on your work without your specific permission. Creative
Commons licenses lets creators share their work with the
public in under Some-Rights-Reserved, or No-Rights-
Reserved with six different types licenses. The six cc
licensing must licenses to creator copyright.
