and Creative commons

condition as I made my work available.
What is copy right?
• Copyright refers to the legal right of the owner of intellectual of any property. In
simpler terms, copyright is the right to copy from others. This means that the
original creators of products or property and anyone they give authorization to are
the only ones with the exclusive right to reproduce the work.
learning in a digital age requires knowledge of copyright because interactions and
outputs of learning are published online.
Copyright law protects creators of original material from unauthorized duplication or
use.
For an original work to be protected by copyright laws, it has to be in tangible form.
Benefits of copyright
• Exclusive use: Once you get copyright for your work, others cannot use your
work without permission. If any infringement takes place, you can carry out
legal action or court.
• Record of ownership: Once you get the copyright registered, there will be a
public record of the ownership of your work.
• Preventing misuse: You can prevent misuse of your work by registering a
copyright. You will have more control over how it is presented to the public.
• Economic gain: The most crucial benefit is the economy you derive from the
same. You will have the sole right to any revenue that accrues from your original
work.
• Encourages creativity: It encourages general creativity in the society as owners
enjoy the benefits of creative work.
Creative commons (CC licenses)
• Creative Commons licenses give everybody from individual
creators to large institutions a standardized way to grant the
public permission to use their creative work under copyright law.
• A CC license is used when an author wants to give other people
the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they (the
author) have created.
Types of Licenses
There are six (6) different licenses
• 1)-Attribution (CC BY)
• 2)-Attribution Share-Alike (CC BY-SA)
• 3)-Attribution -No Derivatives (CC BY _ND)
• 4)-Attribution –Non-commercial (CC BY_NC)
• 5)-Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share-Alike(CC BY-NC-SA)
• 6)-Attribution –Non-Commercial-No Derivatives (CC BY-NC-ND)
Attribution –(BY)
• This licenses allow others to copy, distribute, display, remix and
perform their copy right work.
• It also allow others to use for commercial purposes
• Change licenses and redistribute but, only give cred to the owner,
they must have to get your permission first.
• The above licenses allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and
build upon the material in any medium or format for
noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is
given to the creator.
• Credit must be given to the creator or owner.
• This licenses allow other to use only for non-commercial purposes.
Non-Commercial -(NC)
Share Alike –(SA)
• This license allow other to reuse, distribute, adapt, and build
upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution
is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use. If
you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the
modified material under identical terms.
• You let others to distribute your work for commercial purpose but
only under the same condition as u made your work available.
• BY – - Credit must be given to the creator or owner
• SA – Adaptations must be shared under the same terms.
No Derivative Work -(ND)
• Under this license, you let other to copy, distribute, display and
perform only exact copies of your work, not make derivative work
based on it.
• They must get permission to you (owner) before they (other)
translate, alter, transform, or combine your work.
• This license allow other to redistribute, commercial and non-
commercial, as long as it pass along unchanging.
Non-commercial Share Alike
• This license allow other to remix, tweak and build upon your work
non-commercially purposes under the same condition as u made
your work available, no changes.
• BY – Credit must be given to the creator by the users.
• NC – Only non-commercial uses of the work are permitted.
• SA – Adaptations must be shared under the same terms.

Non- commercial –No Derivative
• Under this license, it allows other to download your work and
share them with others as long as credit you, however, can not
change them in any way or use them commercially.
• This license is most restrictive than other five main licenses.
• BY – Credit must be given to the creator of the work.
• NC – Only non-commercial uses of the work are permitted
• ND – No derivatives or adaptations of the work are permitted
