Max file size capability?

I'm looking at moving from a flash-based uploader to jQuery File Upload. An essential aspect that is important however, is the ability to upload files that can be > 1 GB. My current uploader has a max file size of 2 GB, but this has been very unreliable with files > 750 MB.

Any details would be greatly appreciated!

It is possible to upload large files (> 1 GB) with the jQuery File Upload plugin, but with some reservations.

First, there is this issue: Firefox 3.6 Locked when I upload a big file.

Secondly, I've not done excessive testing with uploading large files, as this also puts a heavy strain on the server-side and my local development servers (Apache, App Engine Development Server) have some problems handling that amount of data via HTTP.

All in all, HTTP might not be the ideal protocol for uploading large files.
Until the Blob API get's better support across browsers and allows chunked file uploads, there is also no support to resume aborted uploads.

Apart from the implementation used for Firefox 3.6 (and other browsers which support the File API and XHR file uploads, but not the FormData API), the jQuery File Upload plugin doesn't put anything on top of the HTTP upload implementation of the browser.
So any files that can be uploaded with a simple HTML form upload can be uploaded with the jQuery File Upload plugin as well.
