Option to remove the element

The component breaks if the autocomplete method is called twice on the same element and there is no way of removing it before adding it for the second time.

I had a similar issue - I needed to update the list of autocomplete suggestions depending on data filter options the user selects. Here's my solution:

var firstRun = true;

// this runs when options are updated
if( firstRun )
{
    $('#element-ID-here').autocomplete(opts);
    firstRun = false;
}
else
{
    // refresh of autoComplete loopkup array
    var ac = $('#element-ID-here').data('autocomplete');
    ac.options.lookup = newLookupArray;
    $('#element-ID-here').data('autocomplete', ac);
}
