Failing tests with jQuery 3.2 & 3.3

Some tests fail in jQuery 3.2 and 3.3.

I thought it was caused by jquery/jquery#3589, but it didn't solve the problem when the fix landed in 3.3. Perhaps related to jquery/jquery#3611 - needs investigating.
