Selected Radio option using change() not working as expected

I'm seeing an issue with Radios and the change() function.
When clicking the radio I get the previous value instead of the new value Shown here:

but it should execute like this, show here:

where the change() should show the selected value not the old value.

Any thoughts?

It's a result of the change event being triggered manually by widget._updateAll rather than naturally via the browser. In this case the triggering event is actually mouseup, not change, and it looks like the data hasn't actually changed at that point.

fixed the links, it added some %20 while clicking them, should be working now

Ah there's the bug. On a radio, you need to fire the change event on the new radio button, not the old one. The value of the individual radios does not change, only the radio that is selected.

It's the this object $(this).val(), shouldn't it give the selected value?

It does give the selected value. The old radio, the this object, is

<input type="radio" name="first_radio" id="first_radio_no" value="no" checked="checked"/>

So $(this).val() gets you its value attribute, which is "no".

So when I select the option "yes" $(this).val() will alert 'yes'

But in this example:

using JQM when I select the option "yes" $(this).val() will alert 'no'

Right, this is due to the bug I mentioned above where jQuery Mobile is firing the change event on the old ("no") radio rather than the new ("yes") radio. Radios are a bit of a special case because the actual element is different even though you might logically think of the similarly-named group as a single logical entity. Once the bug is fixed your original code should work properly.

adjusted change event handling to fire change event on the selected radio, as Dave suggested, and which matches the native triggering. Also, checkboxes change events appear consistent with native implementation. Closed by 6121920
