Cannot set icon position of nav bar icons

Setting data-iconpos on nav bar items has no effect. Please refer to this jsfiddle http://jsfiddle.net/8JHDY/ You will notice that the icon only ever appears at the top of the nav bar item despite having its position specified.

Whoops it seems I did not do a good enough search for this issue as there are several duplicates. Please feel free to close if the jsfiddle is not useful.
