Font Awesome icons look squished on Windows

The Font Awesome icons look bizarre and squished and generally bad on Windows, regardless of browser. This affects all sites.

Maybe updating Font Awesome to v3 would help.
Separated currently used version:

The fix suggested by @myfonj works on Windows 7 with Chrome 24, Firefox 18 and IE 9.

I'm still seeing the squished icons. I added this to my Chrome console and forced a redraw (uncheck, then recheck any css rule) and the icons all fixed themselves:

This appears to have done the trick, here's a shot of IE9 before and after.

This should be live across all sites now, might require a shift-reload!
