I think there seems to be two prominent ways of the implementation, and the maintainers had to pick one:

it seems like no matter which order we define, it's always going to be confusing for some folks.

over 2 months ago now, maybe insta closing the issue when it is brought up again is not conducive to addressing the problem :D

IMO it makes no sense for a "spacing" unit to be used for sizes (width/height), as spacing implies separation between things, not the size of the things themselves.

I think the common sense interpretation (and why there have been multiple submissions concerning this) is that spacing is meant for margin and padding and container for sizes
