HTML editors that handle PHP pages

HELP! I have used many HTML editors but have not found one that
handles PHP pages well. Coffee Cup HTML editor used to be my HTML
editor of choice, but it will not open pages with the .php extension
and when I try to add .php as an extension that it will recognize, it
    crashes.
ANYWAY, what HTML editor will save pages as .php by default?
I have tried dreamweaver but it won't default to .php either, at least
as near as I can tell.
    Thanks a million.

    Try Netpadd at http://www.netpadd.com
It's free and does PHP (and ASP, JSP) highlighting.
I suggest you just download the exe with DLLs, no installation.

Dreamweaver will default to php, you just have to set it up to in the prefs.

I use both HTML-Kit (nice integration with Tidy) and Crimson Editor
(better FTP integration, more customisable syntax highlighting).

I use CoffeeCup HTML Editor 9.5 to build php pages. All I do is drop
down the menu for file extensions and choose All Files. The php pages
then appear. Click on one and it appears on the editing window. If
it's a new file save by writing the php extension. If it already has
the php extension, CoffeeCup will still save it as php. The only
problem is you can't preview your work offline. You'll have to upload
your work to your site and preview it online.

          Hope that helps.
