    Removing Link Underlines

    What is needed to remove the underline in web page links? Do I need
    to change the color or is it something in the tag <a>?

      In HTML documents you could use the following in the head of your document:

      <style type="text/css">
      a { text-decoration: none; }
      </style>

      I wouldn't recommend it though since people are used to underlined links.

        That's a very nice document, and _if_ one really wants to remove
        underlines then one couldn't ask for a better explanation.

        But, Solo, please consider long and hard whether you really want to
        do that. Consider <http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/www/links.html>.

        There can be some page designs where it is legitimate not to
        underline links, say in a menu of distinctive appearance. But just
        arbitrarily to remove underlining from links in page text, that's
        usually a mistake.

          You could do this to aviod CSS

          <a href="link.htm" style="text-decoration:none ">

                  Ok, you're crazy. ;-) You're also correct.

                    I meant you could just put in a regular HTML page without creating a css document.

                        You mean a separate CSS file? David's solution also does that, and you only
                        have to specify it once for the page, rather than on every anchor tag. Then
                        again, if you create a separate CSS file, you only have to do it once for
                        the entire site - even better! :-)
