    table alignment

    hello,

i have a table, that serves as a navigation box in the upper left
    corner of my
page. i aligned this table with <table align="left">. right to it i
have a heading and some text. but sometimes there is no text. in this
case, the following table is positioned right to the navigation table,
    which looks very confusing.
now i'm looking for a way to have the second table positioned below
the navigation, if there is text above or not.

    thanks in advance

    Tabular navigation? How unusual.

Presentational HTML? That's a bit dated. Try the CSS float property instead.

Make use of the CSS clear property (apply it to the second table - gosh,
what a lot of tabular data you must have).

Don't listen to Dorkward, he's a CSS Nazi. Tables are fine.

Gosh, its been a long time since I heard that one. I think I was 12 at the
time (as was the people who came up with that highly witty insult)

Better arguments please. This is not a way to communicate IMO.
Especially since you are advocating a outdated method (on multiple threads).

If he is, then he is probably sipping pino coladas now, surrounded by
latina ladies on a private beach.

New thread: "How can I become a CSS Nazi too?"

Of course they are. For tabular data.

Unless you're stuck in a time warp to 1995, that is.

              To the OP:

BHF: Nazi in three - outstanding effort.

Not even the usual bum-sniffing, handbag-waving ding dong preamble nonsense.
