    plot

    Dear gurus:

I need to create a real-time line plot on an html page, without
resorting to java, cgi, or anything server-side. I think maybe this
could be done with javascript, or dhtml, and most likely macromedia
flash - what may be the best choice for a clean and portable design?
    and why?

    use Flash

Need a bit more info. For example: if you aren't doing anything
server-side, where is the data coming from? What sort of plot? You might
also expand a little on what you mean by "real-time", as that's a term
that gets used in different ways.

I won't say it can't be done with javascript (it depends what you really
want), but I would reccommend a Java Applet instead (which will require
        Sun's Java Runtime Plugin).

Or Flash (don't know much about flash but I'm sure you should be able to
get some external real time data to it somehow).

Last but most flexible option is ActiveX. However if it's for the public
your chances are low that your visitors will allow it to run.
