    XHTML Error???

When trying to validate the page
    <http://thecapitalscot. com/faq_capscot.htm l#Boadecia> I get the
following error message that I cannot overcome. Can anyone see an
XHTML error in the referenced line?

    1. Line 501, column 293: character data is not allowed here

    ....org/HDR/archives/CIARAN9.TXT</a></p>.

You have used character data somewhere it is not permitted to
appear. Mistakes that can cause this error include putting text
directly in the body of the document without wrapping it in a container
element (such as a <p>aragraph</p>) or forgetting to quote an attribute
value (where characters such as "%" and "/" are common, but cannot
    appear without surrounding quotes).

What about the '.' appearing after the closing paragraph tag ?

I'm certainly no expert; but what stood out for me is that the
extension is .TXT. The validating parser may know that text is CDATA.
Also, how is .TXT going to play in a browser.
My response likely trumpets my ignorance, but wrong answers are good
      opportunities for learning.

        </p>.
        ^-- this is your problem.
