    <select>

    I have a select box with a lot of entries in it, some of which start with
    the same letter.

    I want the user to be able to type the first few letters into the select box
    and have the list "move" to the appropriate place.

    any one know how to achieve this?

    TIA
    Steve

    That kind of functionality is dependant on the UAs implementation.
    Currently, users can type the first letter only, which you may have to
    live with. You may be able to try some javascript, which you should ask
    about in a javascript newsgroup; but be warned that, unless written
    extremely well, this may cause unexpected behaviour for user's, thus
    making the form more difficult to use, rather than easier. My
    experience with javascript on other websites (never my own) that attempt
    to assist the user with forms, have been written extremely poorly, and
    bugs have made them very difficult to use.

      Install Mozilla, it does this by default.
