subscripts / superscripts

What is the recommended way I should represent subscripts and
superscripts in my HTML doc? I cannot seem to find a ̉ like code
in the list of decimal codes to use to represent special characters.

Thanks, -

Not sure if you're looking for this:
m2 and O2
?

Digits or letters?

¹ ² ³ are pretty safe even on suitable
Macintosh browsers:
<http://www.unics.uni-hannover.de/nhtcapri/temp/mozilla.gif>
However, broken browsers do exist:
<http://www.unics.uni-hannover.de/nhtcapri/temp/icab.gif>

The other digits
<http://ppewww.ph.gla.a c.uk/~flavell/unicode/unidata20.html>
are unreliable. You better use and .
