Apollo 7
Apollo 7 was the first manned mission of the Apollo program, and the first manned US space flight after a cabin fire killed the Apollo 1 crew. During this mission, the redesigned Block II Apollo Command/Service Module (CSM) was tested while in Earth orbit. The crew checked life-support, propulsion, and control systems. Serving aboard this mission were Astronauts Walter M. Schirra, Donn F. Eisele, and Walter Cunningham. Schirra came down with a cold during the mission and spread it to the other members of the crew. Though hampered by the illness, the crew still satisfactorily performed all flight plan functions.
