Engineers practice Bangalore operations at Fort Barfoot - June 9, 2023

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the West Point-based 237th Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct tactical demolitions training using M1A2 Bangalore Torpedoes during their two-week annual training June 9, 2023, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. The Bangalore was developed during WWI and is used primarily by combat engineers to clear wire obstacles and heavy undergrowth. Multiple Bangalores can be fitted together to extend their reach and, when detonated, can clear a 3 to 4-meter wide path through wire obstacles.
