Introduction to Installing Operating System (Windows 7)
An operating system, also known as a "OS," is software that communicates
with hardware and allows other programs to run. It is made up of system
software, or the basic files that your computer requires to boot up and
function. Every desktop computer.Every computer, tablet, and smartphone
has an operating system that provides basic functionality.
Windows 7 system requirements
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
a. 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor*
b. 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
c. 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
d. DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Additional requirements to use certain features:
● Internet access (fees may apply)

● Depending on resolution, video playback may require additional memory and
advanced graphics hardware
● Some games and programs might require a graphics card compatible with
DirectX 10 or higher for optimal performance
● For some Windows Media Center functionality, a TV tuner and additional
hardware may be required
● Windows Touch and Tablet PCs require specific hardware
● HomeGroup requires a network and PCs running Windows 7
● DVD/CD authoring requires a compatible optical drive
● BitLocker requires Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2
● BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive
● Windows XP Mode requires an additional 1 GB of RAM and an additional 15 GB
of available hard disk space.
● Music and sound require audio output Product functionality and graphics may
vary based on your system configuration. Some features may require advanced or
additional hardware.
How to Install Windows 7
This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to install Windows 7 Ultimate. The
guide is similar for other Windows 7 editions, such as Home Premium.
Step 1 - Start your computer after
inserting the Windows 7 DVD into the
DVD drive. Windows 7 will begin to
boot up, and you will see the progress
bar shown below.

Step 2 - The following screen lets


you configure your language, time and
currency format, keyboard, and input
method.
To proceed, select your required
settings and click Next.

Step 3 - The following screen lets
you install or repair Windows 7. We'll
click "install now" because we're
doing a fresh install.

Step 4 - Read the license terms and


check the box that says I accept the
license terms. Then click the next
button to proceed.

Step 5 - You will now be given two


options. Upgrade versus Custom
(Advanced). We'll go with Custom
because we're doing a fresh install
(Advanced).

Step 6 - Determine where you want


Windows 7 to be installed. If you
only have one hard drive, you will
see an option similar to the one
shown below. You can proceed by
clicking the next button. If you have
more than one drive or partition,
select the appropriate drive and then
click next. If you need to format or
partition a drive, select Drive options (advance) before proceeding.

Step 7 - As shown in the image,
Windows 7 begins the installation
process by copying all necessary
files to your hard drive.

Step 8 - It will go through the setup


stages and reboot your system a few
times.

Step 9 - When your computer


reboots, it tries to boot from the DVD
as the first boot device. If you do not
press any keys during the boot
prompt, Windows 7 will continue the
installation by booting from the hard
drive.

Step 10 - After the reboot, your computer will be ready for use for the first time .

Step 11 - At this point, you must
select a user name and a computer
name.To proceed, click the next
button. The user account you create
here is the Administrator account,
which is the primary account in
Windows 7 and has full privileges.

Step 12 - Choose a password and a


password hint in case you forget your
password and need to refresh your
memory.

Step 13 - You can now enter the


product key that came with Windows
7 and press the Next button. You can
still proceed to the next stage if you
do not enter the product key.
Windows 7 will, however, run in trial
mode for 30 days. As a result, you
must activate Windows within 30
days or you will be unable to access your computer after that time.

Step 14 - Automatically protect


your computer and improve
Windows.
Choose Make use of the
recommended settings.

Step 15 - Examine your date and time
settings. Choose your time zone, enter the
correct date and time, and then click Next to
proceed.

Step 16 - Choose the current location of


your computer. If you are a home user,
select Home network; otherwise, choose
the appropriate option.

Step 17 - Windows will now complete


the configuration of your computer and
restart it.

Step 18 - Following the final restart,


Windows 7 will begin to boot up.

Step 19 - Finally, there is the log on screen. To
log on to Windows 7 for the first time, simply type
your password and press enter or click on the
arrow.

Step 20 - When you first boot up Windows 7, you


will see a desktop similar to the one shown below.
You are now ready to use your computer.

Before starting the installation we have to check first the system
