First of all, for cracking the exam, a right mindset, proactive approach, and decision-making ability are
crucial. A learning attitude and critical thinking are equally important. Students are also advised not to
take advice from everyone if they truly want to pass the exam.
It is imperative to start CSS preparation as early as possible under the supervision of a mentor or a
reputed CSS institute. This would save you time and provide a roadmap to pass the exam in a short
span.
When students start getting an influx of information, they may become arrogant and think they know
everything. This is where they often fail. Therefore, stay humble, grasp the concepts, and keep
improving.
Students are advised to read these guidelines carefully and start acting today by rectifying their
approach, without wasting any further time. Develop a winning attitude – with a loser's attitude, one
cannot crack this exam.
02. Seek Guidance Regarding Your Subject Selection from an Expert CSS Mentor.
Due to poor knowledge, without realizing the depth of the exam, students mostly choose subjects on
their own aligning with their academic background. The CSS exam is entirely different. Academic
background is not the only criterion to choose optional subjects. Therefore, don't make this mistake as
many students have already done so and are heading towards failure. It is time to wake up from this
slumber. Only the wise would understand this, not everyone has the capacity to understand.
To land in the list of qualifiers, these five things need to be done to become successful in the CSS Exam.
There are no shortcuts. You have to invest time, energy, and resources to crack this exam and become
part of the bureaucracy. FPSC has a recommended list of books for each subject. Here, you need a
mentor who could tell you which book needs to be read to cover the syllabus. Reading at least one book
is vital.
Once you have attended the classes, noted the lectures, and read the books, you can now make long
and short notes for each subject. If you are running out of time, then make short notes only. Skipping
this step is not recommended at all.
Thirdly, you also need to solve past papers of each subject. As, these are the best sources that must be
used efficiently to sail through the exam. Mostly, students also ignore this step, resultantly; they end up
being disappointed and fail to pass the exam.
This part is often ignored by the students. Its weightage needs to be realized. Students should, at least,
prepare past papers' MCQs. The target should be attempting 15-18 correct MCQs for each subject.
E. Once You Have Successfully Followed These Four Steps, Now It's the Right Time
Sr.no SUBJECTS SOURCES AND BOOKS
Students start taking mock papers during the last month of the exam. This is again a blunder. At
least, start taking mock papers and test series three to four months before the exam. By doing so,
you shall have enough time to work on your weaknesses and overcome them.
It is a myth that needs to be debunked that Current Affairs should be prepared in the end. This subject
needs time and attention from day one. First of all, cover the syllabus given by FPSC, then identify a list
of burning issues and cover them. Once done with the syllabus, now keep reading research papers and
articles from authentic sources on a regular basis.
First, there are no shortcuts. Second, choosing optional subjects is one of the extremely important
decisions when it comes to CSS. Optional Subjects cannot be finalized or suggested in one or two or five
minutes through a short conversation.
These subjects shall play a key role in passing and getting allocation in a desirable group by deciding
your merit and the attitude of students towards this crucial step is deplorable, I would say.
Finalizing optional subjects requires at least 1-2 hours of face-to-face interaction with a good CSS
mentor where your aspirations, strengths, and weaknesses shall be checked. Also, the mechanics of
finalizing optional subjects shall be discussed. It is a process and must be followed and respected.
Most of the students are trying to bypass this crucial step and want to get subjects finalized randomly
through a message. These aspirants need to wake up and have mercy on themselves and their parents
who want them to succeed in this exam. So, follow these steps for finalizing your subjects.
