LOOKING BACK TO YOUR LESSON
Essay: Below are the questions regarding the previous topic about OHS. Choose one of
the following questions and explain your answer in the space provided.
1. What is the importance of OHS in ICT-CSS?
2. Why do we need to observe and follow the OHS in ICT-CSS?
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
LEARNING CONTENT
A Power Supply unit (PSU) converts mains AC to low-voltage regulated DC power for
the internal components of a computer.
SATA CONNECTOR
SATA means Serial Advance Technology
Attachment) is a computer
bus interface that connects host bus
adapters to mass storage devices such as hard
disk drives, optical drives, and solid- state
drives.
ACTIVITY 2
Direction: Identify the use and function of the power supply connector based on your
understanding.
1. STAA NNTECOOR -
TRUE/FALSE: Read carefully the statement/s below. Write true if the underlined word/s are correct
and change the underlined word/s if false.
1. ODD means Ordinary Disk Drive.
2. The Hard Disk Drive is also known as HDD.
3. The Power Supply convert the power to AC to DC.
4. Hard Disk is the secondary storage of the computer.
8.A power connector that used to power the hard drive and optical drive are the 24 pin molex
connector.
9.Printed Circuit Board is the one holds all the circuitry to connect the various components of a
computer system.
10.The P4 connector is a 12V power supply cable used with motherboards that have an Intel
Pentium 4 or later processor.
TOPIC 2: MOTHERBOARD
Objectives
1. Identify the use of Power Supply
2. Recognize the significant of Power Supply
3. Demonstrate the steps in connecting the power supply cables to different drives
and mainboard
PROCESSOR SOCKET
It is the centrepiece of motherboard
and were the CPU is installed.
POWER CONNECTOR
Allows an electrical current to pass
through it for the exclusive purpose of
providing power to a device.
MEMORY SLOTS
Allows computer memory (RAM) to be inserted into the
computer. Depending on the motherboard, there will usually be 2
to 4 memory slots (high-end up to 8 memory slots) and are what
determine the type of RAM used with the computer.
VIDEO CARD SLOT
The slot that enable the user to add the
adapter card for additional function to the
system.
NORTHBRIDGE
It coordinates the flow of data between the CPU,
graphics card, and RAM.
SOUTHBRIDGE
The other one, handles all of the computer’s
input/output functions.
FRONT PANEL
It is where the connectors of hard disk
drive activity lights, case speaker, reset
button, power on/off button, computer
power on light, and key lock, are
connected to make them function
smoothly.
REAR CONNECTOR
The portion of the motherboard that allows
you to connect external devices, such as your
monitor, speakers, keyboard, and mouse.
ACTIVITY
1
Direction: Draw your own aesthetic design of motherboard showing the complete
parts of it. Ask for the help of one of the member of the family.
ACTIVITY 2
Direction: Give the importance of lesson in the parts of motherboard.
IMPORTANCE

IN
MOTHERBOARD
CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING 2
Directions: Identify the statements below. Write your answers in the space provided.
Cables - A cable is most often two or more wires running side by side and bonded, twisted
or braided together to form a single assembly, but can also refer to a heavy strong rope.
Activity 1
Direction: Given the different cables, identify their functions as well as the part of
computer system each one supports.

II. Directions: Write TRUE if the given statements are correct and write the correct word in
underline if it’s FALSE.
6. Power port is intended for power cord.
7. Parallel port are also called as printer port.
8. Parallel port is used to mouse and older camera.
9. The meaning of LAN is Local Access Networking.
10. Speaker port is intended for plugging in the speaker or headset.
REMEMBER
In order to perform the skills in ICT-CSS, you need to be familiar in the different internal
hardware inside the computer system.
Those internal hardware has their own functions and purposes to make the computer system
works. The students should be also be familiar about the different ports and what cable and
connector will be used.
Post - Test
